Lodge at the Ancient City
The Lodge at the Ancient City is a unique hotel built around a granite outcrop in the same style as Great Zimbabwe, providing stunning views across the valley of Msasa towards the ancient city of Great Zimbabwe. The Lodge integrates seamlessly with the surrounding trees and boulders of the site with dry stonewalling and soaring thatch structures. It consists of 14 lodges with twin double beds and 4 family lodges sleeping 4. All lodges are equipped with en-suite facilities.
The bar is set upon a granite outcrop offering views across a valley to the Great Enclosure and meals are taken in a thatched dining hall or open-air summerhouse depending on the weather and there is a swimming pool so guests can cool off in the hot summer months.. Boat cruises are conducted on the nearby Lake Mutirikwi (formally Lake Kyle) providing an opportunity to admire the scenic views in the area from a different perspective.
The highlight of a visit to Lodge at the Ancient City is a guided tour of Great Zimbabwe, the largest ancient structure in sub-Saharan Africa.
