11 Day Best of Zimbabwe & Zambia

Overview

Zimbabwe is blessed with scenic landscapes and incredible wildlife. Zimbabwean guides are renowned for being some of the top professional guides in Africa. Makalolo is one of the best areas for seeing impressive herds of buffalo and elephant, as well as apex predators such as lion, leopard, wild dog, and cheetah. Other general game is very abundant in the park. Ruckomechi Camp lies on the banks of the Zambezi, shaded by a large grove of acacia and mahogany trees and boasts a superb view of the mountains of Africa’s Great Rift Valley across the river in Zambia. The area is renowned for large numbers of elephant, buffalo, hippo, and eland, especially in the winter when they concentrate along the river. Predators such as lion, leopard, and wild dog are all found in the area.
You then move onto Zambia and the stunning Busanga Bush Camp. It lies in the heart of the Busanga Plains, a vast mosaic of expansive grassy seasonal floodplains that extend to the horizon. When the mist rises off the floodplains as they dry up in winter, incredible sunrises and sunsets are experienced here, while the floodplains teem with wildlife and birds. The camp has four well-appointed en-suite tents each with a veranda to take in the sweeping views. The Busanga Plains provide some of the best lion viewing in Africa. Hot air balloon rides over endless plains, with hippo and dashing lechwe to be seen far below.
After this go to Livingstone to view Victoria Falls. Overlooking the mighty Zambezi River and some of its islands, Toka Leya Camp is splendidly situated in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. Twelve spacious en-suite safari-style tents (including three family tents) with expansive decks soak up the dramatic views and active wildlife.
